Non-Latin Character based language support

I am in the process of beta testing a Chinese classical text for release, and discovered that the only font set supported by the Kindle reader is the ISO 8859-1 character set, as well as Greek.
I was hoping to be able to offer something useable for people studying Classical Chinese texts who didn't want to lug around what tend to be bulky inclusive translations.
I just want to say, it would be quite helpful to have the ability to publish in Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, etc.
How hard would that be?

Bump.
How many programmers would it take to do this? Come on already, Chinese is spoken and read by at least a billion and a half people.
I saw plenty of Chinese character support in pocket translators. How difficult would it be to support a specific font set?
yes, the Kindle reader is specific to the U.S. market right now.
